The locations change, the victims change, and the death tolls vary, but one thing stays the same: the choice of weapon. Tragically, mass shootings in America—in churches, schools, nightclubs and the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas—are becoming an epidemic.

If you’re the victim of a mass shooting, or you lost someone you love, contact Lee Murphy Law Firm. We are currently investigating mass shooting lawsuit claims. We know from representing hundreds of Route 91 attendees, that a mass shooting lawsuit may answer lingering questions about individuals and corporations who may have been able to prevent a tragedy from occurring.

1 October/Route 91 Harvest Music Festival

On October 1, 2017, the worst mass shooting by an individual in the United States occurred when the shooter opened fire on concert attendees at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. The perpetrator filed hundreds of bullets from the 32nd floor of the nearby Mandalay Bay, which is owned and operated by MGM Resorts. MGM also owns the festival grounds at Las Vegas Village where the tragedy occurred.

If you or a loved one suffered harm in this senseless and deadly mass shooting, a Las Vegas mass shooting attorney at Lee Murphy Law Firm is ready to discuss your claim and right to compensation. As a nationally recognized personal injury law firm, we stand up for the rights of clients and fight to recover compensation on their behalf.

Lawsuits naming Mandalay Bay and, more broadly, MGM Resorts as legally responsible parties are on file. The civil lawsuits filed against Mandalay Bay, MGM and Live Nation (the concert’s promoter) focus on the many security issues that factored into the attack. Incredibly, MGM Resorts sued more than 1,900 victims and surviving loved ones of the attack in an attempt to escape legal liability.

Those lawsuits remain ongoing, as do the lawsuits filed on behalf of the mass shooting victims (though all litigation is currently stayed pending mediation).

Some of the prominent security issues and red flags that went unaddressed include:

  • The fact that the gunman was able to get nearly two dozen firearms, assault rifles and related accessories into the hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay
  • The stated fact that the gunman’s "Do Not Disturb" sign was kept on his door for three consecutive days, and hotel staff are trained to be aware of such oddities
  • The window the gunman broke to shoot on concert attendees below did not have an alarm
  • The shooter was able to install a security system to monitor the surroundings outside his room

In addition to these troubling facts, there are additional legal arguments that can be made to support the assertion that security measures for the high-profile and public event were inadequately addressed by both MGM Resorts and Live Nation.

Whether you are an injured victim or surviving loved one, the harms you suffered from this horrific shooting cannot be properly described with words. Losing a loved one in a wrongful death, suffering from serious injuries or incurring disabilities are just a few of the many issues facing the victims of this event. Many of the harms suffered will require ongoing counseling and medical care to deal with the long-term trauma, injuries and potential lost earnings.
